Sexual Integrity Program

SCOPE:

The program is offered to clients who desire to achieve healthy relationships. The curriculum will educate/counsel the client in areas such as: abstinence until marriage, healthy sexual relationship boundaries, sexual abuse/misuse issues, and healthy marriage relationships.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe. (1Timothy 4:12) Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb, which is lame, may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed. Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord, see to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defied; that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears. (Hebrews 12:12-17)

Abstinence

Abstinence is the choice to refrain from sexual activity until marriage. It is a positive lifestyle that emphasizes personal responsiblity, skills, how to achieve goals, and more.

Abstinence education teaches that everyone is valuable for who they are and not what they do. Young people are taught that sex is a gift to be enjoyed at the proper time and place: in a healthy, committed faithful marriage.

Abstinence is the only 100% effective means for preventing all sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancy, and the emotions often associated with sex outside of marriage.

Abstinence education is character-based education that provides opportunities for youth to develop character for self and others, responsibility, honesty, self-discipline, self-control, integrity, fairness and courage. With these skills and traits, abstinence makes sense, but is a truly viable option.

Sexual Integrity is a powerful side of character. It is seen in someone who has learned not only to remain physically abstinent, but also spiritually and mentally as well. Being an individual of sexual integrity is a daily walk. It means not following the social norms, but striving to reach a higher standard.
