Support

The ministry of ABBA, A Women’s Resource Center does not receive any state or government funds. It depends solely on donations from individuals, businesses and churches for our support.

We thank God for His calling on those hearts in our community who have been obedient to Him and given to the ministry.

While every gift is much appreciated it is the strength of monthly pledges from individuals and churches that blesses us most. Please consider becoming one of ABBA, A Women’s Resource Center’s Partners for Life by committing to a monthly (or quarterly) pledge. Your faithful, recurrent giving sustains us for daily ministry.

Financial gifts given occasionally are also much appreciated and needed. Perhaps you might consider giving a gift to the ministry on the occasion of a new born baby in your family, or perhaps the passing of a loved one. Although we are not a United Way member, you can still specify ABBA, A Women’s Resource Center as a designated charity and we will receive most of that donation, minus their handling charges to us.

We are aware that God has blessed certain foundations in who are willing to answer the call as well. Without such a foundation gift, ABBA would not have been able to pay the high costs for our initial ultrasound training for our Nurses. Focus on the Family issued us a grant for 80% of the cost of our new Ultrasound machine.

And in order to remain completely autonomous, we believe God will provide through His people and through the scheduled fundraisers we have each year.

ABBA Baby Bottle Banks

The Baby Bottle Campaign supports programs like our Ultrasound program in which overwhelming abortion vulnerable and abortion minded girls and women who see the image of their pre-born babies, decide NOT TO ABORT. Usually, our Baby Bottles are distributed in conjunction with Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (around January 22 each year), Mother’s or Father’s Day. However, it can be done at any time that is best for the church involved.
• Baby Bottles are decorated, and given out to individuals at our local churches, to be returned within a specified period of time filled with money (checks, currency or change). These funds are returned to the church in the Baby Bottles and given to ABBA.
• A liaison is needed in each church to spearhead this each year.

ANNUAL BANQUET

Each year in May we have a banquet with a special speaker, which highlights what the Lord has done through the ministry of ABBA, A Women’s Resource Center during the past year. One of the prominent features of our banquets are the testimonies from clients whose lives have been touched by the ministry.
• Table Hosts are needed to fill the tables at this free event.
• There is no charge for the wonderful dinner and entertainment, but each attendee will be given an opportunity to give to the work of the ministry before the evening is over with one-time gifts or monthly pledges.

Annual Lobster Bake

Each year in August, our ABBA donors are treated to a very unique and fun adventure. It all starts out with a Portland Harbor narrated boat cruise, arrival at the privately owned House Island, a guided tour of historic Fort Scammel and of course a yummy lobster (or steak ) feast. There is even entertainment!

  • As with our Annual Banquet, there is no charge for this event, but each attendee is given the opportunity to give to ABBA, A Women’s Resource Center.
  • Each ABBA donor is given two extra tickets to invite someone who might share in our ministry’s vision

Walk For Life

Each November, we have our annual Walk Fair for Life. This is an event for the whole family. We have music, singing, games and prizes, and sometimes a special guest appearance by a local personality. We even have a scrumptious Bake Sale. All walkers walk the same 2-mile course and raise money by asking for one-time donations. Most walkers raise at least $150 to get their free ABBA T-shirt or $300 or more to get their free ABBA Sweatshirt. The amount raised by this fundraiser is limited only by the number of sponsored walkers taking part.

  • Church liaisons to promote our Walk Fair are needed from each area church
  • We need help from local business to underwrite the costs of the Walk
